Olá
o apache 2.2 nao vem com essa variavel e parece que o maximo é 256
estou querendo colocar 500, já adicionewi a linha MaxClients 500 mas nao sai dos 256
alguem sabe como resolver isso?

A edição do httpd.conf não é como na versão 1. Leia o cabeçalho e verá que precisará executar um ou dois comandos para validar sua alteração, caso contrário, ela é reescrita.

seria isso? por acaso sabe qual dos arquivos? recompilar? acrescentar algo?

Testei aqui, editei o arquivo
Se eu não me engano é neste arquivo que tu tem que alterar.
Se caso o ergti confirmar que é ali, gostaria de saber se é necessário dar o comando citado.
